Subject: Rusty tie-down brackets...broken sink part
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Since I get to work tomorrow, we didn't take the Westy camping over the holiday weekend. While cleaning up Fritz on Friday, my son and I discovered two problems...

The tie-down hardware on the luggage rack is really rusted and the rust is discoloring the inside of the luggage rack. Drilling out the rivets and replacing the brackets seems a bit extreme. How about a Dremel tool with wire brush? Anybody done this? Other suggestions?

The outlet on my sink is broken where the drain hose clamps to the outside cup of the drain. The hose barb is cracked (off completely now that I pulled on it a little). I checked GoWesty and they want $20 + shipping for the whole assembly; I only need the outer cup/hose barb. I'm going to glue it for now. No Westies in local junk yards.

Incidentally, today we took my son to the airport (enroute to his next duty station....Sigonella). Hans (91 Caravelle) ran great with five people, loaded with lots of luggage; 65-70mph in stiff 25 mph winds. He is such a good van! We spotted two Westies in the LT parking lot, one air cooled, one 85-86. We also saw a new Westy EuroVan on the way home...Weekender no kitchen. (Rare day for sightings in Ohio).
