Just to let you all know - I got the '84 Vanagon started.  You may remember I
had asked for advice since it had been setting up for some time and the fuel
system had been drained.  The problem was that I had reversed the wires to
the fuel pump.  Big red face here!

    Thanks for all your advice.  I am now "on the road again!"
