Glad to hear you got it going. Your diesel is "sucking air". One harmless but messy diagnostic to do is to to squirt some motor oil on the fittings at the fuel filter and such, if the bubbles stop you know they are coming in there. In any case, you should replace the tube with 1/4 inch inside POLY, seeif the problem goes away. did you replace the filter? after years the diesel can congeal on the filter element and slow it down. good luck
