Sounds like you have an injector that wasn't firing, or not firing properly. All the injectors need to be rebuilt. Also, the injection pump more likely than not needs rebuilding. The head needs to done, with a perfect valve job. Have it ported and polished while its out -- make it nice and smooth. Did you check compression before you took it apart? I can't remember from your earlier posts. While its out be sure to spring for a new water pump, and some of the gurus (no apostrophe this time) may suggest examining your oil pump, and replacing. I rebuilt a 1.6 TD in 1994. Didn't know what I was doing, but managed to make it run. I made a mistake in trying to cheap out, though, and didn't rebuild the pump or injectors. Problems that later had to be addressed. Of course, if the motorious is out, HK would heartily recommend turboing that baby so she'll blow nicely. The one you have can't be done safely. Find a 1.9 TD and drop in, then quit worrying about all this other stuff. Of course, that might be more than you plan to spend. But so well worth it, and would drastically improve value of the van. hk
