Simple to drop in a customized WBX no figuring how and making parts to fit as with the Subie. No fabricating parts and hoping they do not break, WBX parts are easier to obtain Performance enhancements can add 10 to 50 plus HP and INCREASE reliability. Changes increase engine life: ceramic sealed head gasket surfaces to counterweighted crank to Pauter roller tip ratio rockers to blueprinted oil pump 22 to 25 mpg highway (WITH the modifications I made) (can increase when I tune the FI to the modifications based on the recant posts about tuning the FI) Mileage generally increases if not too wild with the modifications both driving and with the changes. Easy to rebuild, a few quirks but almost as simple as a T1 beetle engine. Might be able to use T1 bug to T4 conversion bearings main bearing, small bearing is similar to T4 (was the same except for an additional oil feed hole on opposite side) or same as a T1 bearing
Cheaper Performance bolt on parts (Can use many T1 Bug performance parts) Can be converted to air-cooled and used in T1 and T3 engine applications. Enough torque to pull up hill with 6 people (1200 lb.) in fourth (I have a .457 SA five speed) with the engine rpm at @2200 with no lugging problems, then take fourth to 75 mph with ease. Instant engine starting (bump of the starter) results in longer starter life. Smooth running from 1200 rpm to 5000+ rpm. Power band from 1800 to 5200 rpm, while the subie might have higher range, with the five speed, the WBX power band is enough. I can get 75 mph easy in fourth at @4800, I could push it up to 85 mph at 5500 in fourth...The WBX has all the rpm range for my driving needs... These are a few offerings, Robert
