140K without leaky heads is good. Wait. I COULD have had a Subaru, and I would have changed my timing belts at least 3 times by now. Unlike a leaky head, the timing belt gives no prior warning. Snap, you're stranded. They are supposed to go 60K between timing belt changes, but they usually don't last that long. Let's see, $600 times three would mean $1800 in timing belt changes alone. While my WBX is still purring along. Has anyone considered the fact that Subaru engines leak also? As in coolant from the head gasket? For those who think Subaru engines are indestructible, I invite you for a dose of reality: http://www.gartland.com/subaru/index.html Chris.

You think a wasserboxer with140k without leaks is good? Just shows how bad the problem is with those engines. Larry '82 Syncronized Subaru/Westy |
