Subject: Re: pulling and replacing pilot bearing in crankshaft

I tried the grease method with no luck at all - I rented a slide hammerform an auto parts store that came with jaws small enough for the pilot bearing (bring the new one with you to the autoparts place) Came out in seconds with the right tool! Supposedly some motorcycle shops have small bearing pullers - so that may be a back up

Volks, Just got overcharged to replace the pilot bearing in the end of my crank at the machine shop.

I think that if I could get the old one out, I could get the new one in, for I have various bearing seating tools.

Any ideas how to easily remove the old one?
