Subject: T1 bug to T4 conversion bearings for WBX main bearing shortage?
Content-Type: multipart/alternative;

Might be able to use T1 bug to T4 conversion bearings main bearing, small bearing is similar to T4 (was the same except for an additional oil feed hole on opposite side) or same as a T1 bearing.

An article in Hot VWs mag talked about crank dimensions and the conversion bearing might work.

Also you might be able to utilize the Gene Berg Enterprises T4 to T1 split third bearing to eliminate the need to remove the crank gears during a rebuild.

From the mag it might work.

The only concern would be tolerances for air-cooled are slightly greater than the water-cooled. Get the .1 under bearings and have the crank ground to the correct tolerance.

This could be done if the shortage continues.

The bearings are the same construction.

Robert
