I have been thinking about this for several weeks when this new rash of Subaru bashing started again. Would it be possible to use the Subaru engine, but incorporate the stock Digijet FI system? There would be some obvious problems with the fuel injectors and the distributor, but everything else could be adapted pretty easily. You would have to modify the Subaru's distributor shaft to attach the VW unit. I don't think that would be that hard. The FI's, I don't know. Worst case would be machining the heads to use the VW pieces. It seems like it would eliminate all of the wiring problems, and maybe the emission inspection issues, too. I don't know anything about Subaru engines--is there something really obvious I'm missing? Maybe KEP could come up with a distributor to offer with their adapters?
