Randy, from your description, I would guess that a new key is in order. Lubrication has been suggested, but the need to wiggle generally indicates the need for a correctly cut key. The code number for the lock is on the tailpiece of the door handle, which is the forked-shaped casting on the end of the lock. If you'd like me to make the key, I have VW original keys with the VW logo, black plastic headed keys, or generic style keys. Please let me know if I can be of assistance.
