Subject: subaru timing belts
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Chris, Get over it already ,you have no understanding why someone would put a subaru engine in their van. I know of two; power and cost.Their is no way you can get the same hp out of a wbx for anywhere near the 2to 3000 it costs to convert to subaru power. Sure if you are affluent, then 6or $7000 for a Lilley or ottennger motor might be ok.But for hp per $ the subaru wins. As for the $600 timing belt replacement,I am sure a person that can repower their van they can handle this job. Yes their are situations where a repower is inappropriate like a pristine Westy that you may want to sell one day. Myself,Ithink that the inline conversion is the way to go if it can be done economically. It has fewer compromises than the subaru ,but you still have a bastard. You at least know who the father is though. So don't dump on these people because you diagree with them , after all they are keeping our beloved vans running that otherwise might end up in the scrap yard.Right next to all those subaru's.

Peace, Dennis A 91 carrat soon to be GTI _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
