An old US Navy trick is to wipe all your rubber parts down with a nice thick coat of Vaseline, it wipes right off and keeps your gaskets fresh. It would work equally well on your door jambs too.

We used it when painting hatches with windows and it worked on both the rubber gaskets, glass and polished brass and kept the sealing surfaces from paint build up.

The liquid mask sounds good. I'm not knocking it.
