I use two Trojan T-125's which are 235ah batteries. Specs are: 10 3/8L x 7 1/8W x 11 3/16H and weigh 66 lbs. each. These six volt batteries are the type used in electric golf carts and other industrial equipment. They were original equipment on my Adventurewagen built in 1983. In May 1989 I had them replaced. Those batteries were still about 75% efficient when I replaced them May 2000. Total cost with sales tax for the two was $157.20. The batteries should be placed in an enclosed space and vented to the outside. Mine are in a fiberglass box under the rear seat bench next to the sliding door. The Adventurewagen depends on these since the refrigerator only runs on 12V ac/dc. It also powers the furnace fan and my TV/VCR when required. If the vehicle is not moved (or started) fresh batteries will last 3-5 days depending on the time of year. Obviously in sub-freezing weather the furnace fan will be getting a workout. I just got off the phone with the local battery guy. He recommended the Trojan battery above the Optima. His claim was that the trojan has much more reserve then the optima and if you don't need the cold cranking amps then trojan was the way to go. Also, he said that mounting two 6 volt batteries would be a much better way to go then one 12 volt battery. Has anyone done this.
