Well, wrong Mark but what the heck.
I have Berg 1.4 ratio rockers on my type 1 (beetle). The stock rockers were 1.1. So if the cam lifted the lifter by 1 inch, the stock rockers multiplied that by 1.1, so the valve was moved 1.1 inch.
If a cam lifts the lifter by 1 inch and you have 1.4 ratio rockers, the valve will open 1.4 inches.
The rockers are like a teeter-totter. If you make one end of the teeter-totter longer than the other, then that end is going to move further; i.e. more lift. Mark Ingalls 85 GL 75 Bug P.S. The stock valves only open about .3 inches, I just used 1 inch for the example. So with the ratio rockers my valves get opened somewhere around .4 inches.
