Hello, list. I'm finally finishing up the replacement of all my cooling system hoses. My '87 Westfalia has the heater hose arrangement wherein two plastic 5/8" x 5/8" x 1/2" T junctions connect the main heater circuit to the rear heater core. I'm wanting to replace all of the hoses and the plastic pieces, and eventually the heater hoses that run to the front of the van. Assumption for the rear portion is that I can simply use plastic "Ts" from hardware store and go with bulk 5/8" hose everywhere rather than the pre-formed factory pieces. The connections to the rear heater valve are 5/8", so I'm not sure why VW used hose that reduces to 1/2" for this purpose, unless this is the "flow restrictor" mechanism that is referenced in the Bentley. If so, what are my alternatives for installing a flow restrictor? I'm in digest mode, so please respond via p-mail. Thanks, Dan |
