Subject: installing alternator
Content-Type: text/plain

OK, now I feel really dumb. I took out the alternator, and didn't mark what plugs in where. So now I have the new one, which is slightly different, and I'm not sure if I have it plugged in right. (This is an 87 Vanagon) On the back of the alternator, I have a larger bolt marked B+ and a smaller one marked D+. D+ has a flat terminal on it. Theres also a flat terminal in the body of the alternator. Coming from the front of the enginecompartment is a bundle of 3 wires--2 red, whichcome together into one round connector which I think goes on B+, and one small blue wire which ends in a connector for the flat terminal. I know this originally plugged into the body of the alternator, but now I have 2 flat terminals and only one connector, and I'm not sure where to put it. There's also a black wire coming off this connector, which goes to a black rectangular thingy that originally screwed onto the back of the alternator--but there's no place to put it on this one. Theres also another red wire coming from the left, and I think this also goes on B+.

Well--what do you all think? Sonia J
