I have done the mid December > Sacramento to Baltimore trip... in a 1965 Chevy Ven with a 283 in it...

Tim...

Hey... I had a 65 Chevy Van too! It had a six banger in it and posi-traction... great van. Kept running and running. I was 27. Travelled all over the west and midwest in it... used to pick up jewelry makings in Albuquerque, string beads and cut stones in the desert or the mountains somewhere... then go sell our stuff at the college campuses in the midwest... nebraska, kansas, iowa, illinois. Then turn around and do it again. It was great fun... made enough $$$ to keep doing it, which was I guess the point. As you said, young, energetic, carefree, dumb... and for the most part, loaded.

I sold a 61 splittie (and a 62 MB 220S) to buy that bus... always wondered why I didn't buy a VW bus back then... didn't get back into vw's until the late 70's... but have had several since.

Aloha,
