i had a set of four spacers made by a machinist friend out of 1/4" aluminum
plate that fit like stock (5x112 bolt circle w/14mmSAE holes, and a 2.63"
diameter hole to clear the axle stub/bolt).  give me about 6.5mm offset,
which with my ET38 wheels gives me a close-to-stock ET31ish.

i don't know if there's any effect on bearings if the spacer keeps the wheel
close to the stock offset of 30, but i am not an engineer so have a large
cube of NaCl on your shoulder with this.

as for the studs i am getting long studs from ben tan and will replace the
stock studs that held my carat alloys so i can have the complete 7 turns of
the lugnut for safety's sake.  currently i have about 6 turns, but want to
make sure that extra 1/4" is taken care of.

i suppose if you just buy a wheel of ET30 you wouldn't need the longer
studs, but then you wouldn't be asking this, would you?
