Haven't viewed this site, but a friend of mine mounted a huge capacity alternator on his US work truck(maybe chevy) years ago and that allowed him to let his engine run at a specific rpm while parked and use some sort of welder, but prolly not a TIIG or MIG. He was a mobile repair guy for heavy equipment and he didn't have room for a welder on the back of his work platform. The system seemed pretty cool, but I don't know much about welding.
