Fellow listees with a Westy and propane experience....

I am trying to diagnose if I need a new regulator or not on my Westy.

The previous owner told me that the guys at the RV shop told him that he needed a new tank because it no longer held propane.

OK so I started tearing the valves and regulator out to see what I could see. First the tank has propane because when I open the valve the propane comes out. Ok so the tank appears to hold propane and the valve appears to work. When I reconnect the regulator and turn on the valve I hear a slight knock, like a pressure detention. But when I try to turn on the burners ( I wont even try the fridge until I can get the burners going) there is a slight release of propane and then nothing.

If I remove the brass tubing pipes going from the regulator to the burners and the fridge I get propane hissing out. When I reconnect the lines .... nothing at the burner.

Do the symptoms described here characterized a bad propane governor/regulator?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Joel 89 Syncro Westy Rochester NY.
