This sounds like your new to the vanagon List. This is the topic of frequent, and often heated, discussion. in short, SA sells an inline 4 cylinder 2.0L replacement engine. TIICO sells it here in the states. Its, more or less a bolt-on conversion (as much as something that complex can be) at the tranny. it provides new motor mounts to fit the new configuration. Most systems are provided or borrowed from the original engine. Last I heard, going rate was $3700 plus frieght from point of entry to the US (not counting installation). Hope that helps Cory Date: Thu, 14 Jun 2001 08:31:14 EDT From: Rico Sapolich <JKrevnov@AOL.COM> Subject: Re: ?? SA Engine Conversion ?? I have been told that VW of South Africa no longer sells replacement waterboxers but, instead, they offer a complete kit to replace the wbx with an inline-4 VW engine. Does anyone out there in Vanagoland know the VW part numbers which apply to a conversion kit such as this? Rich |
