Need some help w/ my new-to-me '90 Carat: 1. When going over small bumps or rough road, there is a rattling/knocking noise from the front supsension. It is very sublte, but I think I can actually "feel" it too. It sounds as if there is a few mm of play somewhere that gets jarred on bumps. I jacked up each side and tried to feel for any loose linkage but didn't find anything (but suspension is still under some tension, so I guess this doesn't necessarily help). Everything seems in tact; sway bar is fine. *I just had all 4 shocks replaced w/ KYB's and I'm fairly certain this noise was NOT present before. (I've driven a 91 that has this same problem, but much worse - so I paid careful attention to this before I bought this one and there was no noise)
2. Also, it's squeaky! I can't figure out where it's coming from, but it sounds like it might be from the upper control arm area. I tried lubricating most of the joints. Still squeaks. If bushings are in order, which bushings are they? Thanks for any insight. -James 90 Vanagon Carat _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com |
