If this happens after an extended run and when you are traveling at high speed with little load (cresting a hill, etc..) then it sounds like the "capacitor across the AFM" fix to me. I have had it on both of my '87's, and increasing the throttle did make it go away until the load on the motor was light again or you were at redline.
