i installed our "new" exhaust today, from the y-pipe out to the tailpipe (thanks to max and alan...and to ben, but that's not on yet), using stainless steel hardware. of course, i had to take the old stuff off and so noticed the left-hand bracket was missing the top part (where the strap "hangs" from) and, of course, the strap. i understand these are quite expensive, so i ask: are these the same in all model years of gasoline-powered vanagons? i've seen some pre-86 models in our local pick'n'pulls, but no later models. if possible, i'd like to snag one from there. i also pulled the covers off our foam poptop bed, and then read they should only be dry shampooed or vacuumed. ours are, shall we say, grungy. we'd like to wash them and airdry them so they're good'n'clean, so alexander won't wrinkle his little nose at sleeping in the poptop on our trip. anyone? thanks. bill '87 syncro westfalia http://www.scruznet.com/~kasper/pics/westy |
