Subject: On being well grounded
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset=us-ascii

All,

I have a Digijet setup which I've been testing for a surging idle (up down, up down, etc.). When I go through the tests which can be performed at the brain connector a la Bentley, I get a couple of bad readings.

The injectors all come up with higher than normal resistance (17.6 to 18.3 Ohms). Not liking the idea of buying new injectors, I went ahead an tested them right on their connectors, and they all tested within range.

I took that to mean that the brain is not well grounded and went ahead and cleaned all of the grounds within the engine compartment. However, I still get the same readings. I filed down the old ground connectors rather than cut, strip and solder new ones, but I don't think this is it, because I tried putting one side of the meter on the block with the other on the injector terminal on the brain with no change in resistance. Also, the last test in Bentley is to check the ground for any resistance which is fine in mine (0 Ohms).

So what's a perfectionist to do?

John Haddad
