I think this is a very important question to answer. I have one in my '84 GL right inside the silding door, behind the passenger seat. It's the only place I can think of to keep it out of the way, yet handy for ANYONE. If it's over the engine compartment, it may be too far away, too late - for you or some other vehicle. I got the white Kidde extinguisher that will do oil/gas/electrical - easy to spot and cheap ($35).
