Subject: Removal of "water" drain plugs?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="Windows-1252"

Hi Volks:

In the bottom of the air intake shafts, in the pan that forms the bottom, exists a rubber plugs that seals a water drain hole.

I am considering removing those plugs - so water entering the side scoops has a place to drain.

Is there a good reason to leave those plugs in place?

FWIW, the bottom of the pan has ridges that appear to be designed to route any gathered water to the hole - so it sure looks like the holse served a purpose in draining water.

No wonder our vans get seam rust - with the plugs in place, the intake shafts keep water in contact with the seams.

TIA,
