Volksbruden, I have been puzzling this for a while. Seems to me that the fire extinguisher could get loose and become a torpedo in a hard stop, collision, etc. Has anyone figured out a secure but quick-access setup? I'm considering a length of heavy PVC pipe... While sailing I chock off a 2nd extinguisher in the galley, near the woodstove-easy reach, can't come adrift from its pocket. Also...bought an Origo alcohol wick stove-no moving parts, non-pressurized, pretty economical and portable. Boater's World, WEST, BOAT/US, local chandlery are good sources. Buy fuel in gallon tins on sale at home stores (way cheaper). Scarcely use a quart in warm weather.George '87 Van O'White. --- PSavage <psavage@SABER.NET> wrote: > Volks, > As stated earlier, my current extinguisher is > mounted > on end wall of back cabinet, above right side > seat/bed. > But, after reading suggestions for additional > mounting sites, > I'm planning to mount *two* more fire > extinguishers-- > on both front pedestals of driver's/passenger seat. > (I use *all available space behind driver's seat for > gear > when traveling, & pillar inside sliding door doesn't > work > for me.) > > Has anyone *successfully* improvised holding > brackets > (perhaps of velcro straps) that improves on plastic > straps > provided with extinguishers? > Something secure, but quickly released in emergency. > > Phaedra > '85 Westy Basecamp
