This is the charcoal filter... OK... what does that do you ask! This takes gasoline fumes that come off of the fuel tank and stores them. Then when the engine is turned on, as vacuum is created and a valve opens up and the fumes are sucked into the intake system.

I was looking under my '88 Westy and noticed under the right rear, behind the coil spring perch in the void between the rear wheels, what looked like a vacuum diaphragm with hoses (2) that went back to the engine compartment.

Does anyone know what this thing is and does?

thanks

Todd
