Hardly! I carried a 500lb bike plus an SL100 800-odd km in my panel Split,
no worries.

For my later Kombis I made plate-steel tiedown points and bolted them to
the seatbelt points, then used two friction tiedowns (none of those awful
ratchet types) on the bars to pull the bike's front end down, no stand or
rear tiedown necessary. Make sure the two tiedowns are angled well apart
from one another to triangulate with front wheel.
