I used regular gas during my whole trip to New Mexico. I had no trouble in the mountains, although 9,500 feet was about as high as I went. In most parts of Kansas, regular is 87 octane. When I got to Liberal, Kansas, the regular was 86 1/2 octane. In Texas and New Mexico ALL of the regular gas was 86 octane. Anyone know why this is so?
