Another observation from last week's camping trip. I have my oil level just below full--I changed it right before this trip. There does seem to be some high speed foaming of the oil at this level. I noticed that my oil pressure was better after sitting for 10 minutes at idle when the Harbour Tunnel at Baltimore was closed. Even though the coolant temperature went up slightly and the fan cycled several times, when the tunnel was opened, the oil pressure was better for a while. After another 30 minutes or so of high speed (relatively speaking--65 mph), the oil pressure dropped back to where it was before the tunnel stoppage. I am using Valvoline 20-50 and the correct Mann filter. Should I drive a little slower or run a little less oil? Anyone out there running the larger diesel filter with the factory amount of oil (more in the filter, less in the case)? Jay |
