Subject: Mendocino Redwood Campout

Greetings Confirmed Campers! Two weeks from tonite we'll gather together-- under anchient redwoods along the Navarro River in gorgeous Mendocino County CA wine country.

More details will follow next weekend, but first--some pertinent information re our campsites & park facilities.

Hendy Woods has ample clean, well-lit rest rooms with electric outlets & coin-op hot water showers. (Quarters available from park personnel.)

Camp sites tuck into shady, natural settings--shared water spigots, picnic tables & raccoon-proof pantrys. No electrical hookups. So plan on running 12 volts or bringing coolers & ice.

There are good swimmin' holes yet in the Navarro River. Be sure to bring shorts, swimsuits, trunks, straw hats.

Bicycles allowed on paved & dirt roads within the park, but not in the 80 acre anchient redwood grove. (helmets *required on children under 18.)

Dogs are allowed, but *only in campsites & must be leashed. (So, don't bring your dog if you don't have to.)

Joggers & runners: Guartanteed beautiful trails with gentle slopes within the park & redwood groves.

Campfires are allowed, but firewood *must be bought from Ranger. If you plan on a BBQ over campfire ring, bring a *large* grill! Or bring your own BBQ grill.

The tiny hamlet of Philo is only minutes away, whose country style grocery store has just about anything you'll need but didn't bring. Not to worry! You'll find locally made wines & great local brew pub beer. So relax, there's more ice & beer right up the road!

Bring plenty of folding chairs! And if you haven't been to the Hendy Woods site online yet, here's how: In browser enter: CA state parks--go to: Hendy Woods. There you'll find a map & directions, etc.

Next Friday, look for another update. I'll will have some important announcements to make regarding The Lounge. Thank to those who've offered help! Stay tuned! Phaedra
