Boggles.

There was a story about a crash of an Orion P3 in the Arctic Ocean in the seventies. The base responsible discovered long after the fact during a routine GSA accounting the real reason for the crash.

When reviewing the list of materiel reputed to have been lost with the aircraft and adding up the weight and volume it was clear that the P3 should have crashed on takeoff as it was far above the rated load for the airframe.

Off to Travis today for the (H)Airshow.
