Check the wiring first. I'm not sure about the '91's but the older models have shown problems with the O2 Sensor wire. If you can make it act up by squirting water on it and there's not something obvious like an exposed connection the wiring could be it. If your O2 Sensor is old you might want to replace it anyway.
