I vote for the shadyboy (www.shadyboy.com). They open to cover almost the entire side of the van, are light weight, are struydy and pack very small (about 1/2 the size of most), were made exclusively for the vanagon by a vanagoner (i think), do not rattle, handle the wind fairly well and look real neat. The only down side is the stock mounting requires that you drill holes into the roof and the sheet metal screw motuning is somewhat crude, but there are other ways to mount them. Steve
