The Mann filter for the Wasserboxer equipped Vanagon has a bypass valve which lets the oil bypass the filter element at pressures above 1.5 bar. The Mann diesel filter doesn't let the oil bypass the filter until the oil pressure reaches 2.5 bar. Critical? I don't know. A "bar" is between 14 and 15 lbs. of pressure.
