Don't have much to contribute on the exercise issue, but do I have a juicer solution for you!

The latest Cabela's catalog has a 2-cycle gas engine-powered blender! I am not making this up! (and it's not Friday yet, either) I howled when I saw it, but maybe for some, the medicinal benefits of a daiquiri (or fresh juice) would offset the noise and smell. Might get you shot at a campground, though.

And for backpacking, maybe a model airplane engine...
