Hi Tony,

This has happened to me a few times. What I've found is that the shaft is metal/iron/steel of sorts and the wiper arm is a much softer aluminum and the spline has Alum packed into them. Clean them out and tighten down on the nut and this should fix it. P.S. I have also had to replace the wiper arm because of repeated strippings.

Volks,

The driver side windshield wiper became loose from the drive spline, and stuck on the side of the window while the wipers were on. Needless to say I tightened it down, using a socket drive, but it seems to still have some slippage - ie when I cleaned the windows with a squeege I pushed down a bit on the wiper blade and it slid down -- i am concerned that the splines on the drive are either chewed up/getting chewed up -- hate to mess em up more...any ideas of how to secure the wiper arm to the drive spline so it won't slip? or how to rehab the splines or ????

Thanks,
