Maybe he was looking at your speedometer, which of course, was reading ZERO because it is connected to the front wheels! I have had these idiots come and get me out of the waiting room because they could not get the hood open to inspect the engine. We walk in, I stop at the back lid as he proceeds to the front of the truck. He was trying to get to the engine from the FRONT of the truck! I laugh and say(loud enough for all his coworkers to hear);"Dude, the engine is in the back!". I passed with flying colors.
