Rob; Try removing the idle valve and flushing out with carb cleaner. Also Here is a post from a fellow list member on how to search the archives. I remeber seeing many helpful replies to this query in the past.

You do this by sending a 'search' command to the list server (listserv@vanagon.com). I'll give you a brief lesson here, but an extensive help file is available by sending the following command to the list server: GET LISTDB MEMO

To search for all letters containing the term 'CV joint', send the following command to the list server:

SEARCH 'cv joint' IN VANAGON

This is the simplest form of the command, and returns an index of all letters that contain the phrase, as well as a brief excerpt of the term in context. The letter will also contain information on how to get the full text of any of the letters found.

You may also narrow your search in a bunch of ways. You can limit a search by date with a "SINCE. . . " predicate. Likewise, you can limit by sender and/or by the subject line with a "WHERE . . ." predicate. For instance:

SEARCH 'cv joint' IN VANAGON since 98/01/01 SEARCH 'cv joint' IN VANAGON WHERE SENDER CONTAINS 'joel' SEARCH * IN VANAGON WHERE SENDER IS coyote@likeminds.com SEARCH * IN VANAGON SINCE 97/01/01 WHERE SUBJECT CONTAINS 'oettinger'

are all valid search commands that will (depending on how well you've crafted your predicate) dramatically reduce the number of entries returned to you.

(Note that the case of the statements is unimportant. I just put keywords in all CAPS, and variable information in lower-case.)

VANAGON WEB ARCHIVES -------------------- The entire history of the Vanagon mailing list is now available in the database. You can use 'search' commands sent to 'listserv@vanagon.com' or simply use the web interface at http://gerry.vanagon.com/archives/vanagon.html
