I bought two German or Swiss surplus cans from a local survival supply store for $18 ea. I think they are advertised in the "Cheaper than Dirt" mailorder surplus catalog also. They have a nice latch feature and come with metal labeling for either gas or diesel and the same style of can is available for water only. Although they are OD green youcould paint or powder coat to suit. They do not fit the US jerry-can mounting bracket so you are on your own there. I liked the labeling feature and the boxy, German look.
