Subject: Temp Gauge Not Working

Could anyone give me some advice on diagnosing why my temperature gauge stopped working? I was organizing wires in the engine bay and now the temp gauge doesn't show any reading. The two wires that attach near the thermostat are still connected, so that doesn't look to be the problem. The other weird thing is that the dash lights on just the right side binnacle (tach/temp/fuel) have also stopped working. The fuel gauge works, the tach is fine, the red temp light flashes a couple times when I start the engine. Just the temp gauge and the right-side dash lights are out. Any help the list can give is much appreciated. Venturing off across the Mojave next week (LA to Utah) and would really like to keep an eye on the water temperature! Thanks again!
