The flat part of the flange that you describe point toward the right front
of the oil pan, as installed in the van. It lines up with the 2 parallel
reinforcing ribs that are on either side of the part number on the casting
(at least on mine). That puts the hole in the plate in line with the oil
tube itself. I am looking at one on my desk right now. If you are still
