Subject: Hella Optilux 2020s arrived! First Impressions...
Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

My new Hella Optilux 2020s were waiting for me when I got home from work last night. I tore into the package with zeal! My first impression after freeing them from their box was WOW! For those of you who haven't seen (or touched) the Hella XLs (which the 2020s are replacing) the outer housing (which mounts the lights to the vehicle) is plastic, relatively good plastic, but plastic none-the-less. Not so with the 2020s! The housings for them are nice, sturdy, metal. There is a plate on the back that you screw off to gain access to the bulbs. Also, these lights are about a wide as the XLs, but only half as high. Very compact enclosures.

So far I'm impressed. As soon as Saturday comes around I'll install them and we'll see if I'm as happy with their performance as well as their construction.
