Well folks, My rebuilt auto trans for our 87 westi will arrive this week so its time to pull the old one. I have done many repairs on water and aircooled VWs over the years but this one is new to me. I plan to pull the trans with the engine still in, split the final drive from the auto portion, install the new auto, change the fluid in the final drive and re-install. Anyone out there done this and have any tips, suggestions, or warnings.? As a side note, thanks to Ken Wilfy for recommending German Transaxle in Oregon. They actually had a rebuilt in stock and shiped it out Fed Ex the same day. Thanks Don Record York, PA |
