Hi Fred, I've used other brands/models in past, but found the FlipLite to be dependable, with parts that hold up. It's indestructable! I use rechargeable ni cad batts from Radio Shack & have found these to give best service. The FlipLite operates on either 2 or 4 batts, depending how much brightness is preferred. It gives a couple hours of lite on good, fresh, rechargeable batteries. It's solid, compact, & doubles as a quick grab nite lite while sleeping in the upper bunk. I sometimes clip it onto Westy curtains, etc. Cost about $10. I found mine in the travel gizmo section of a luggage store.
