Hi David,

I seem to think this is some kind of coolant pressure problem. 4 heater cores (all in the rear), plastic distribution tower, plastic return T past the heater, all burst in one year.

The two differential coolers are fairly thin (aluminum?) parts on the automatic transmission. There was no sign of corrosion, of course. I had never heard of this happening to a Vanagon!

My mechanic has not come up with any ideas. I am rather disappointed, as I felt after the 4th item burst, that there is a serious problem. That was before $1700 for a transmission rebuild.

Thanks for your response. Please let me know if you have any other thoughts!

Paul
