Okay, I'll give my 1/2 a penny thought to the discussion now. Just think for a minute here, and bear with me. What if there was no change, because of the emissions testing. What if, there was no emissions testing, and it got worse? Maybe the emissions test kept it the same, so that it did not get worse? Think of how long we have been running cars, to be in the situation that we are now. We really can't "Fix" the problem, but we can make it so that it does not get any worse. I believe that that is what the emissions test is about. I could be wrong, but I think that in a 5 year study with nothing changing is good. That would mean (To me) that the test and prevention is working. Like I said, you really can't fix the air with the test, but you can keep cars off the road to keep it from getting worse. Think about CA. Imagine if there was no testing there at all. (I'm sure a lot of people from CA, especially those with Busses and Vanagons, would love that) What would the air be like in 5 years? A lot worse I would imagine. Now, just a question here for Ed, They did a study while the emissions test was going on, did they do a study before that? Are they doing a study now to see if things get worse? Don't get me wrong, I hate having to get emissions done. It's one of the things keeping my van off the road, but in the long run, I am glad that society is finally trying to do something positive. My only wish, is that it be free. I'm poor. I hate having to pay money. That actually, is what I hate about it. It costs money to get a car inspected and tested for emissions. Around $80-90 here where I live for both inspection and emissions. To some, that is nothing, but to me, that is a hell of a lot of money. Okay, I'll shut up now.
