I had a long telephone discussion with a Michelin customer representative
this morning. He was so surprised when I told him that the Michelin website
tire selector was still recommending the RainForce MX4 185R14 91T that he
used the tire selector that was at his desk and got the same answer. He
said that he would contact his manager and get the website changed ASAP.
However, as of 2100 EDT, it was still recommending the RainForce.
He did tell me that I could not get the same deal that Michelin has
apparently given other Vanagon owners. He said that at best I could work
through my Michelin dealer (Tires Plus) and I could get a pro rated
exchange. In fact, when I did order the RainForce, I could not even get
them in the 91T version and had to settle for the 88Ts. Please note that I
tried to get several of the Michelin dealers here in Macon, GA, to order the
Agilis 61s, but all told me that their Michelin rep told them the tire was
no longer in production. I realize that Macon is somewhat akin to a 3rd
world country, but one would hope that Michelin can do better. Guess its
time to find the name and address of the CEO.
